Moth Number Two

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Yesterday, in the late afternoon, the second cocoon finally hatched!

It's another polyphemus, or cyclops moth. We think it's a female this time because the antennae are smaller than the last moth.

Here's the first moth from 2 weeks ago.

Notice how the wing spots are clear.

It's amazing how this big, fat moth fit inside that small cocoon!

I wanted to play with the moth. But I was only allowed to look at it.

This evening, ghostwriter put the moth in front of the open window. Finally, it flew away.

We are honored to have had the chance to see not one, but two of these beautiful moths up close.

What more can I say? Here are some more pictures:

Good night everyone.

  16. What a beautiful moth. How did you get the cocoons that the moths were in? Did you find them in your yard?
